10 ways to practice self care

You know the saying you can't fill other people's cups if yours is empty, and it is so true. We cannot give ourselves to others if we are running on empty. In today's lifestyle we constantly find ourselves busy running from one thing to another wearing several hats and just trying to make it through the everyday. On top of that you say you have no time for yourself - well I'm here to tell you self care doesn't need to be time consuming. Here are my top 10 ways you can practice self care.

#1 Drink more water

Such a simple concept but one not many of us pay attention to, a lot of us will definitely remember the caffeine or the tea but disregard the water. Your water intake is super important so grab yourself a stylish drink bottle and refill it during the day make it a goal to drink 1 and the 2 full drink bottles a day. If your not keen on drinking plain water grab some water infuser bags that flavor your water to make it palatable for you.

#2 Take a bath

With the hectic nature of today's life we grab a quick shower when we can, but take 20 minutes out to take a relaxing bath add in some bath salts or a bath bomb, pour your favorite wine or make a hot chocolate. Light some candles and sit back and let your worries subside well at least for the next 20 minutes.

Flowers

#3 Fresh Flowers

Flowers can not only brighten a room but also brighten our mood, why wait for someone to get some for you, treat yourself to a bunch of beautiful flowers there doesn't need to be an occasion - the occasion is you and all the greatness you are achieving in your everyday life.

technology

#4 Detox from technology

Not forever don't panic, but technology can be overwhelming it can take over our lives if we let it, you just say 5 minutes of scrolling then I'll go to bed before you know it its 2 hours later and your still wide awake. Try having 1 hour of a day then increase it over time till maybe you are going one day a week with zero technology. Your mind will thank you for it.

pamper

#5 Have a mini pamper night

Don't have time to go to a salon no problem - grab yourself a face mask, your favorite moisturizer and nail polish. Put the kids to bed and give yourself a mini pamper night you will feel amazing and look amazing to.

say no

#6 Learn to say NO

This is a huge one for self care, if you are finding yourself spread to thin, finding yourself always tired from running everywhere and taking on way to much then learn to find your inner strength to say NO. It is ok to put yourself first once in awhile. Get kids to pick up after themselves, tell your partner what you need (even if its just 20 minutes to yourself) say no to sleepovers or events. You do not need to do everything for everyone this is your life to.

read a book

#7 Read

Find a new interesting book and actually read it, 10 minutes a day of reading something that you love. Curl up on a comfy sofa grab your soft blanket and your cuppa and be transported to another world for just a short time.

gratitude

#8 Practice Gratitude

If this is not something you currently do I highly recommend it, grab a journal or it can be a blank notebook or even a piece of paper. Start writing what you are thankful for. Can't think of anything, what about your ability to see, your ability to walk, your ability to hug your kids, your ability to have kids, the fact you have a home, the fact you ate today there are so many things to be grateful for.

Meditate

#9 Meditate

This can be as long or as short as you want - if you have never tried meditation before head to you tube search guided meditations there are hundreds we also have the escapes book filled with guided meditations. Taking a little bit of time out to meditate can change your entire outlook.

beach

#10 Head outdoors

Whether you prefer the beach or the bush or even your local neighborhood. Heading outside can reinvigorate the soul just being in nature can brighten any mood.

Those are my 10 ways to start incorporating self care into your everyday life. I'd love to know what you would add to this list? Do you practice self care?
